Research Experience

As a Ph.D. research scholar, I  had studied the charge changing processes during the ion-atom collisions  in order to ascertain the electron-nuclear and electron-electron correlation near the Coulomb barrier energies. It helped me to develop a strong cross-disciplinary research foundation. On the experimental front, I had planned and successfully performed several experiments along with my group members. During the experiments, I had gained good working experience with x-ray (low energy germanium detector and silicon drift detector) and particle detectors (silicon surface barrier detector and microstrip detector). I had designed several detector housing as per the requirement of the experiments. Further, I had sound experience in both setting the electronics for data acquisition and high vacuum handling during the experiments.

On the computational and theoretical front, I had a rigorous experience in advanced computing software (Matlab, Maple, and Mathematica) and programming languages (C/C++ and Fortran). The thesis work contained an extensive theoretical study to investigate the probable role of one of the important atomic process, i.e., the shakeoff process during the heavy ion-induced nuclear reactions and other fundamental atomic and nuclear processes.

As a post-doctoral fellow in Weizmann institute of science, I have broadened my research spectrum from the atomic physics (x-ray spectroscopy) to the plasma physics (UV-visible spectroscopy). Currently, I am engaged in experiments and data-analysis work to explore the ionization dynamics of different ion species during the implosion and stagnation time of z-pinch plasma. Further, I am learning different spectroscopy techniques (both computational and experimental) in UV-visible regime, which will be useful for the proposed research plan of my postdoctoral tenure.
